Week of 19 Apr — 25 Apr

What did you do this past week?

This past week, I started on some final projects for other classes, and took a look at the requirements for phase 4. We created the rough scratch of our powerpoint presentation and mapped out how we wanted to do some of our visualizations.

What’s in your way?

Currently, nothing much is in my way and this week seems pretty relaxed. However, I must remember to continue working hard and to get my work done for my final projects and presentations because I have a lot due the week after.

What will you do next week?

Next week, I will continue working on visualizations for this phase of the project and do some styling of the frontend and refactoring of the code. I also plan to finish the powerpoint for both this class and my ethical hacking final.

If you read it, what did you think of the What Happens to Us Does Not Happen to Most of You?

This reminded me of many articles that I have read in the Ethics in CS class that I took a few semesters ago. It is sad to hear that so many people have to experience such inequality and disrespect. With more people speaking up and drawing attention to it, I hope to see more changes in environment in the future.

What was your experience of joins and refactoring? (this question will vary, week to week)

The joins that we learned in class with SQL reminded me a lot of the previous one that we have learned in Python so it was pretty easy to catch onto. The exercises were fun and showed me that there are many methods to implement something! Refactoring was also interesting and will definitely be useful for this phase and for my future projects.

What made you happy this week?

Baking is always a way for me to enjoy myself and to destress. I was able to take some time and make some pumpkin bread and macarons this weekend! We also just got our phase 3 grades and I am happy with how my team and I did.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

I was looking through the old projects for guidance on how to do visualizations and saw that Burnin’ Up used Recharts to do some of their visualizations. Looking more into it, I found their library very clean and easy to implement! This will be very useful for those who are still working of their visuals for this phase of the project.
